Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurses have advanced training specific to psychological services such as providing counseling to individuals, groups, and families. They are able to assess both the physical and mental health needs of their patients and develop treatment plans, assess intervention effectiveness, diagnose, prescribe, and treat patients with psychiatric problems and disorders. They can serve in a variety of roles such as psychotherapists, case managers, consultants, and administrators.
